Solid tantalum curb chain with laser-engraved identification tag
An exclusive necklace made from solid, high-purity tantalum—one of the rarest stable elements in the universe. Each piece is supplied with a highly polished identification tag bearing the material name, purity, and a registered individual serial number.
Rare-element jewellery with a distinctive character
This solid tantalum necklace is available exclusively from smart-elements and is suitable for both men and women. Its restrained, timeless design places the focus on the unusual material itself.
Unlike silver jewellery, tantalum does not tarnish or leave dark marks on the skin, even when worn continuously. Due to its excellent biocompatibility and outstanding corrosion resistance, tantalum is also widely used for medical implants.

Jewellery made from one of the rarest elements in the universe
Tantalum is one of the rarest elements in the Earth’s crust. Within the solar system, it is considered the rarest stable element—considerably less abundant than gold or platinum.
An extraordinary metal
For many decades, tantalum has been used in high-temperature applications, electronics, laboratory equipment, mobile phones, computers, and numerous other technical products.
People handling tantalum for the first time are often fascinated by its characteristic grey-violet colour and its unexpectedly high density.
Tantalum is extraordinarily resistant to corrosion—more resistant than many precious metals. It withstands almost all acids, including aqua regia, and is attacked mainly by hydrofluoric acid and molten alkalis.
Although its chemical resistance resembles that of a noble metal, tantalum is not formally classified as one.
Why tantalum jewellery is so uncommon
Tantalum is exceptionally difficult to process. Melting and soldering require extreme temperatures, while exposure to air at elevated temperatures can make the metal brittle. Sawing, machining, grinding, and polishing are therefore possible only under carefully controlled conditions.
These technical challenges explain why only a small number of skilled jewellery manufacturers work with tantalum and why genuine tantalum jewellery is normally offered at very high prices.
In cooperation with a renowned German jewellery manufacturer, we are able to offer these exclusive pieces using selected, high-purity raw materials comparable to those used in scientific research.
Individual laser-engraved identification tag
Every necklace includes an elaborately laser-cut and highly polished tantalum tag.
The front is engraved with the material name and purity. The reverse bears a registered individual serial number, making every necklace a uniquely identifiable collector’s piece.
Minor variations in appearance, weight, and surface structure are characteristic of individually manufactured metal jewellery.
