Der Schmelzpunkt des Glases steigt mit dem Strontiumgehalt. Dieses Glas dichtet mit niedrigschmelzenden Metallen wie Aluminium (Schmelzpunkt 650 \u00b0C). Normale Borosilikatgl\u00e4ser erweichen oberhalb des Schmelzpunkts von Aluminium.
