Der Schmelzpunkt des Glases steigt mit dem Bariumgehalt. Dieses Glas bildet Verbindungen mit niedrigschmelzenden Metallen wie Aluminium (Schmelzpunkt 650 \u00b0C). Normale Borosilikatgl\u00e4ser erweichen oberhalb des Schmelzpunktes von Aluminium.
